VHS-C was introduced in 1982 and is one of the most compact video tapes available at the time. VHS-C tapes hold 40 minutes of video rather than 120 like other video tape formats at the time. VHS-C tapes require an adapter to be able to watch the tapes on your TV. The VHS-C tape offered comparable quality as the Hi8 video tape, but had shorter recording times.
VHS-C tapes have a magnetic tape and were not meant for long term storage. As magnetic tapes age and are played back they start to degrade. This degradation essentially erases home videos. We have all seen a video tape that is virutally un-watchable because it has been subjected to years, if not decades of abuse. Stop the degradation by converting your VHS-C tapes to DVD or Digital Video File. By converting your tapes now, you will stop the degradation that is occuring.
